Voice journaling
Say it the way you'd say it to a friend
Tap record and talk. noor transcribes your voice note into a journal entry, so the days you can't face a blank page still count.
27 things noor does, and 23 of them are free. Everything below is in the app today — none of it is a roadmap — and each one is marked honestly as free or Premium, with no asterisks.
However the day left you — talkative, wordless, or somewhere in between. Speak it, type it, in the language you think in.
Voice journaling
Tap record and talk. noor transcribes your voice note into a journal entry, so the days you can't face a blank page still count.
Text journaling
A quiet, beautiful page with a gentle prompt when you want one — and none when you don't.
Your language
Choose your speaking language from dozens, South Africa's official languages first, and noor answers in the language you wrote in. If your phone can't listen live in yours, noor says so plainly — and your saved entry still comes out in your language.
Breathing, grounding & SOS
Guided breathing, a 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise you pace yourself, and progressive muscle relaxation for when you need to settle — and an always-there SOS screen with crisis resources, because a journal should know its limits.
The heart of noor: every entry read with attention, alongside the ones before it — what you actually said, and what you keep saying.
Sofia, your companion
Sofia reads what you share and responds with warmth and honesty — brief check-ins, real conversation, and continuity from one week to the next. She's an AI companion, not a therapist, and she never pretends otherwise.
AI reflections
Save an entry and receive a considered analysis: how you seem to be feeling, the pattern underneath it, what's going right in your own words, how today compares with what you wrote before, and questions worth sitting with.
Pattern insight
noor compares today's entry with your history and names the pattern that matters most — a loop you're stuck in, a need going unmet, or the value clashing with the rule you punish yourself with. Kind, but not just nice.
Noor Spark questions
Instead of advice, noor asks — pointed, Socratic questions aimed at the exact thing you just wrote about, so the resolution is yours.
Charts, a weekly page and lists that fill themselves — growth you can see, on a timescale guilt can't survive.
Mood tracking
A gentle check-in before and after each entry, then charts that show how your mood moves around your entries over weeks and months.
Deep-Dive analysis
Take any reflection deeper: the limiting belief underneath it, a grounded reframe, and where the thread leads across your journal.
Weekly Synthesis
Every week, noor draws your entries together into a single synthesis — themes, shifts, and what quietly improved while you weren't looking.
Living lists
noor quietly collects the good things you mention — what you're grateful for, what you did well, what helps — into lists you can return to on hard days.
Psychoeducation
Short, plain-language explainers on the ideas behind your reflections — grounded in CBT- and ACT-informed thinking, never jargon for its own sake.
Streaks without guilt
Milestones glow when you show up. When you don't, nothing scolds you. noor is deliberately built without guilt mechanics, pressure loops, or manufactured urgency.
Depth without more screens: ask it a question, let it remember Thursday, get a letter about your month, bring your old journal with you.
Ask your journal
Type a question into your journal history and get an answer drawn only from your own entries — with the dates it came from, so you can open the day. On the free plan a question counts as one of the week's reflections; Premium asks without a cap.
Check-backs
Mention an interview, a decision, or a note to your future self, and noor offers to bring it back on the day. Say yes or not now — one line, never a nag.
Then and now
When a subject comes back months later, your reflection carries one honest sentence on what has changed — or hasn't — since the dated entry you wrote then.
A letter for the month
Once you've written enough of a month, Sofia writes you a letter about it — grounded in your own words, ending on one question to carry forward. One a month.
Photo entries
Attach a photo from your library or camera. The reflection sees it once; the photo stays on your phone with the entry, never on our servers.
Walk & talk
A mic in Sofia's composer for anyone. With Premium, hands-free mode reads each reply aloud and listens again when it's done — a conversation on a walk.
For your counsellor
A PDF of your entries and moods, every word in full and nothing Sofia wrote, prepared to hand to a real person — with a preface that says exactly what it is and isn't.
Home-screen widget
On Android, noor's today card lives on your home screen — a check-back, a memory from this day, or a line to start with — with one-tap shortcuts to write, your history, and Sofia. Resize it and it changes what it shows.
Bring your journal with you
Pick a file, see what it holds, add it on a second tap. A noor export comes back whole; a Day One export becomes plain entries. Nothing is ever imported twice.
Privacy you can touch, a voice you choose, and a look that feels like home.
Privacy tools
A Privacy section that says, in plain words, what leaves your phone. A passcode lock in the phone app, export, and export-then-delete in one place. Guest mode keeps everything on your device.
Tone & vocabulary
Gentle, Balanced, Direct or Analytical — in anything from plain everyday words to a technical register. Set it in Settings and change it whenever you like; it shapes every reflection, and every reply from Sofia.
Make it yours
Emoji avatars you earn as you grow, a launcher icon that follows your mood, and a true dark mode. Some avatars are Premium-only.
Spoken replies
Tap any reply and Sofia reads it aloud, in the language you wrote in — for the moments when taking it in off a screen is too much.
The free plan is a whole journaling practice, not a trial of one. Premium is there for when you want more of noor's attention — it adds depth, it doesn't unlock the door.
One honest voice note before bed. That's all a first entry is — and it's further than most people ever get.
Use noor in your browserThe full app, right in your browser — free, no account, no card. Journaling should never feel like a subscription trap.
